A edition de Luxe, limited to three hundred and fifty copies signed and numbered by the artist, Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale. This copy being number one hundred and eight four. 

Idylls of the King, first published between 1859-1885, is a cycle of twelve narrative poems retelling the Arthurian legends of Camelot, King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, Lancelot, the Grail quest, and the fall of the Round Table.

Illustrated with 21 tipped-in colour plates, including a frontispiece by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale. Collated, complete.

Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale (1872-1945) was a leading British Pre-Raphaelite-influenced painter and book illustrator, celebrated for her richly detailed and jewel-toned depictions of historical and literary subjects.

Condition

In the publisher's original full vellum binding. Externally, very smart. Slight splaying to boards. Ribbon tie absent. Slight discolouration to perimeters, more so to rear board. Offsetting and the odd light spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. pages bright and clean with one or two spots to fore edge. The odd spot to first and last few leaves. Signed and numbered by the artist to the limitation page.
