First edition.

Illustrated throughout with full plate and vignette illustrations from Hanslip Fletcher, an etcher, illustrator and painter specialising in architectural studies of London and elsewhere, with many of these works held by the British Museum. With a further eleven tipped in plates. Collated, complete.

This volume offers Bone's impressions and opinions formed during a visit to Edinburgh in 1910 after a long stay in the South, focusing on the architecture, ambiance, streets, history and the life of Edinburgh. 

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Slight fading to extremities. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Front hinge cracked, with binding materials exposed, somewhat loose but holding. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Rubbing to boards. The odd slight handling mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to first and last few leaves and fore edge.
