Illustrated with coloured frontispiece and sixty-three coloured plates, and a folding map to the rear. Collated, complete.
Bound in the publisher's original cloth with the very scarce original dust wrapper. Very rare to see in the original dust wrapper.
This botanical work was written by Harold Stuart Thompson and provides a study on Alpine plants, with descriptions on what Alpine plants are, their habitats, cultivation, how to press them, and the various species with many illustrations depicting each.
Undated, dated by the preface and copies held by the British Library.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only the slightest rubbing to the extremities. Bookplate of Nigel Warren to the front pastedown, with spotting to the endpapers. The wrap is very smart with slight fading to the spine with small closed tears to the head, with a closed tear to the joint of the front fly leaf. Internally firmly bound with bright pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
