Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Two novels from prolific writer H. G. Wells, best known for such novels as 'The Island of Doctor Moreau' and 'The Invisible Man'.

The first of these two works is the scarce 1911 'Cheap Reissue' of 'The War in the Air', which was first published in 1911.

This is a prophetic adventure novel in which global warfare is revolutionised by air power, leading to the collapse of civilisation.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and fourteen plates. Collated, complete.

The second work is the 1916 second impression of 'The War in the Air', published a month after the first.

This is a semi-autobiographical novel that explores the emotional and societal impact of the First World War on an English intellectual and his family.
