Eleven volumes of a twelve volume set, lacking volume XI. Limited to one thousand copies, of which this is number one hundred and twenty-three. Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece and one plate. Collated complete. Written by Henry Fielding, an English novelist, irony writer, and dramatist known for humour and satire. This set includes: The History of The Adventures of Joseph Andrews and of his Friend Mr. Abraham Adams, in two volumes. A "comic epic poem in prose", this novel tells of a good-natured footman's adventures on the road home from London with his friend and mentor, the absent-minded parson Abraham Adams. The History of Tom Jones a Foundling, in four volumes. A highly organised Bildungsroman and picaresque novel, following the wealthy Squire Allworthy and his sister Bridget as they are introduced in their estate in Somerset. Amelia, in three volumes. Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and light fading to the spines. The odd small mark to the cloth or spine labels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities. A small amount of the text block remains unopened to the rear of the odd volume.
