This is a comic novel by H. G. Wells. The protagonist is an antihero inspired by Wells's early experiences in the drapery trade.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Loss of colour to the title label to the back strip, as is common with this work. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Mark to fore edge of front board. Rear hinge lightly strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of spotting to the first few leaves.
