Illustrated with twenty-five tipped-in colour chromolithographs with tissue guards. Collated complete. An epic narrative poem about Lucifer from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an American poet and educator known for his poems Paul Revere's Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline. Illustrated by Sidney Harold Meteyard, an English teacher, painter, and stained-glass designer who was a member of the Birmingham Group and whose late Pre-Raphaelite style was influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. A very small split in the cloth to the head of the spine. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and light age toning to the endpapers.
