The first edition.
A presentation copy, with a presentation stamp to the title page.
Illustrated by Arthur Rackham with a colour frontispiece, monochrome line drawings and five coloured plates, coloured by Harry Rountree. Collated, complete. Most of the monochrome plates have been amateurly hand coloured by a previous owner.
A charming children's book by Maggie Browne, which first appeared in 'The Little Folks' magazine in 1900.
Undated, dated by a copy held by the British library.
In the publisher's original cloth, with a coloured plate to the front.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, slight edge wear with small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine. Hinges tender, lacking front free endpaper. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with the odd spot, and a presentation stamp to the title page. Several plates hand coloured by a previous owner.
