First edition. With a colour frontispiece. An interesting historical study of sports in the eighteenth century up to the contemporary present day in the early nineteenth century. With tables throughout the text. Written by Ralph Nevill, a British author known for 'The Merry Past' among other works. Previously held in the W. H. Smith & Son's Library.

Condition

In full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
