This is a vanishingly scarce, second edition of this work.
Indian Dishes for English Tables is attributed to Ketab (a pseudonym), providing a curated introduction to Indian cuisine adapted for English home cooking.
Recipes include: Apple Chutney, Banana Jelly, Bindaloo, Boiled Fowl, Brinjal Salad, Chenna Pudding, Chicken Pillau, Coaftas, Dhal and Egg Curry, Koormah, Cutlets, Fish Cakes, Fritters, Hulluah, Kitchree, Seaweed blancmange, Tomato Jam, and Vermicelli Soup, to name a few.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Front joint cracked, with binding materials partially exposed, resulting in the spine being slightly loose but holding. One or two minor handling marks to boards with slight rubbing, causing some loss to the illustration. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Bookplate to front free endpaper from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique". Slight loss to torn edge of rear free endpaper measuring around 3.5" by 0.5". Slight scattered spotting to endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges somewhat strained, but holding. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned with the odd spot, heavier to fore edge, and particularly to the first and last few leaves.
