First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, twenty-five black-and-white plates, and many in-text decorations. Collated complete. A collection of folk tales from across the world, including: The Bell of Atri, The Emperor and the Abbot, Prince Ivan and the Grey Wolf, The Mouse Tower, The Three Lemons, and many others. Retold by Lilian Fanny Gask, a British author of children's books. Illustrated by William Andrew Pogany, a prolific Hungarian illustrator known for his children's books. His artistic style is heavily fairy-tale orientated and often feature motifs of mythical animals such as nymphs and pixies.
Condition
In the original red cloth binding with a pictorial design pasted to the front board. Externally, smart with minor bumping to the extremities and fading to the spine. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers.
