First edition. Illustrated with sixteen tipped-in colour plates. Collated complete. A charming collection of Irish tales, with titles including: The Bannow Postman, Beggars, Kelly the Piper, Lilly O'Brien, and Moyna Brady, amongst others. Written by Anna Maria Hall, an Irish novelist who often published as "Mrs. S. C. Hall" after she married Samuel Carter Hall, an Irish-born writer on art. Illustrated by Erskine Nicol, a Scottish figure and genre painter.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping and minor rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine as is typical with green cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the extremities. Further spotting to the first and last few pages with a contemporary ink inscription to the edition page.
