Thomson was a celebrated illustrator known for his pen and ink illustrations of classic works of literature, remembered for inaugurating the Cranford School of Illustration with his edition of Elizabeth Gaskell's work of the same name.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright. Back strip significantly age toned, with a touch of fraying to back strip head. Small area of fading to fore edge of front board. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
