First edition. Very scarce work. From the Peeps at Many Lands series. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, eleven colour plates, and a sketch map. Collated complete. A travel book on the large, mountainous, French Mediterranean island of Corsica, known as the "Isle of Beauty". With chapters on the history of the island, its physical features, animals, character, and folklore, along with descriptions of important cities and towns. Written by Ernest Young, a British travel writer, author, and headmaster of the Lower School of John Lyon, Harrow. Illustrated by Edwin Arthur Norbury, a British artist and illustrator.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper with sticker residue to the reverse of the frontispiece.
