The very scarce first Canadian edition of this work, with 'Henry Frowde, Torono' to back strip and title page tail. With title page and binding specific to this edition, but otherwise utilising the sheets of the true first.
Illustrated with fourteen plates by H. R. Millar. Collated, lacking the frontispiece and one further plate.
This work tells the story of Dickie Harding, an orphan who must use a crutch due to an injured leg. Harding discovers a magical moon-flower, containing seeds that transport him into a world of magic and romance.
Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Light fading to back strip, with a light rubbing to back strip tail, resulting in small losses to cloth, and with tide mark to fore edge of rear board. Bump to back strip head. Hinges strained, and tenderly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, binding lightly strained. Lacking frontispiece and one further plate, with another plate detached and loosely inserted. Pages bright, with the odd handling mark and spot, with instances of minor tide marks to fore edge of final few leaves.
