These 'Baedeker' handbooks, from the company of German publisher Karl Baedeker, set the standard for authoritative guidebooks for tourists. They contain, among other things, maps and information regarding routes, travel facilities, noteworthy sights, attractions and museums, written by specialists.
This volume provides forty-eight routes across Greece, including excursions to Athens, Thebes, Corfu, Zante, Mykonos, Sparta and Kalamata. With practical hints on the modern Greek language, people and history of art.
Illustrated with sixteen maps (four folding, including one large map held in the rear pocket), thirty plans (three folding), two diagrams, and a folding panorama of Athens. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the publisher's red cloth binding. Externally, with fading to the spine and a crease running down the front board. With small ownership inscription to the front board and light brown spots to the rear. Rubbing and bumping to the extremities, most notably to the spine head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a couple ownership ink inscriptions to the front pastedown and front free endpaper. With a few scattered spots to the first few pages.
