What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

First edition. Illustrated with twenty-four colour plates. Collated complete, with the frontispiece detached but present. Inspired by Silberrad's visit to the Netherlands, this work is an exploration of the gardens and flowers of the Netherlands, mostly focusing on the gardens at the Het Loo Palace, which is home to a Dutch Baroque garden. Written by Sophie Lyall, an English writer, and Una Silberrad, a British novelist who wrote around forty novels, most of which highlight the conservative middle-class virtues and priorities with female protagonists. Illustrated by Mima Nixon, an Irish artist and illustrator. With four leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. The odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound with the frontispiece detached but present. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the endpapers.
