Includes commentary on the size, plumage, song, and habits of individual species. Includes a glossary of common and provincial names and technical terms. Written by Charles Alexander Johns, a British botanist and ornithologist. Edited by J. A. Owen, a British journalist and ornithologist. Illustrated by William Foster, a British painter and illustrator.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities resulting in small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound with tissue guard to the frontispiece loosening slightly. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers.
