Froude's historical writings were often fiercely polemical, earning him a number of outspoken opponents, and he continued to be controversial until his death. Bound in full calf. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine with minor fading to the board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. School prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Bound by Howell, Liverpool.
