    Ten volumes of the popular 'Playbox Annual', with the earliest volume being the first volume of the annual ever published - 1909 - and the latest volume dated 1930.

    The 1909 volume, illustrated with three colour plates. Lacking one colour plate.

    The 1910 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1912 volume, illustrated with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1913 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1914 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1916 volume, with two colour plates. Lacking two colour plates.

    The 1918 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1922 volume, with a colour frontispiece. Lacking three colour plates.

    The 1926 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    The 1930 volume, with a colour frontispiece and three colour plates. Collated, complete.

    Each volume features over 300 further vignette illustrations, many in full or partial colour. Illustrators include Louis Wain, H S Foxwell, S J Cash and many more.

    Inscriptions to front free endpapers of three volumes, with bookplate to front pastedown of 1909 volume.

    Condition

    In the publisher's cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip heads and tails and board perimeters. Boards bright, with instances of light rubbing and handling marks. Hinges of 1909 volume strained, with boards holding firm. Tail of 1922 rear hinge starting, with board holding firm. Front hinge of 1926 volume strained, with board holding firm. Bookplate to front pastedown of 1909 volume. Inscription to 1910, 1918 and 1926 front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd pencil notation and handling mark. 1909 volume featuring numerous instances of amateur hand colouring throughout.
