In the publisher's original blue cloth. All works published by John Murray, except The Grey Lady, The Velvet Glove and The Last Hope which were published by Smith, Elder and Co. All volumes are 1919 reprints, except The Velvet Glove (1909), The Last Hope (1913), and The Vultures (1915).
Hugh Stowell Scott, pseud. Henry Seton Merriman, was originally an underwriter at Lloyd's of London before gaining popularity with his hit novel The Sowers, which was later made into a 1919 silent film. This particular collection includes his fourteen best novels.
Condition
In the publisher's original blue cloth. Externally, very smart with minimal marks, slightly heavier to Barlasch, The Sowers and white mark to rear of Lamp. Slight fading to spines, heavier to Unrest and Lamp. Small signs of shelf wear, heavier to Unrest and Lamp, where cloth has slightly lifted. End papers are generally bright and clean, with mild offsetting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
