The first edition of this delightful collection of children's verse by the Sowerby sisters.

In the publisher's original cloth binding with a coloured illustration to the front. 

The charming verses are written by Githa Sowerby, a feminist playwright and children's writer who was well-known during the early 20th century for her play 'Rutherford & Son'. 

With a colour frontispiece and ten lovely colour plates by her sister, Millicent Sowerby, who was known for her illustrations of classic children's stories such as 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. 

With a contemporary ink inscription dated "Xmas 1908".

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. With sunning to the spine and shelf wear. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting and light spotting to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the verso of the half title page.
