    First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

    The first edition of this scarce work.

    Edwin Beresford Chancellor's insightful look at the "private palaces" of London, a wonderful discovery of the history of the city. 

    Buildings discussed in this work include Devonshire House, Burlington House, Spencer House, Grosvenor House, and more.

    Illustrated with a frontispiece, and forty-three plates. Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light marks to the cloth. Spine is faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small tear to the tail of the front joint. Front hinge is starting but firm. Gift inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots. Frontispiece is working loose.
