A sentimental poem set on a cold Saturday evening in November, as a Scottish cotter returns home to his family ahead of the Sabbath and gathers them around the fire to share news, fatherly advice, and Christian teachings. Written by Robert Burns, a Scottish poet and lyricist widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and best known for his works in the Scots language or Scots dialect.

Condition

In the original purple reverse calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and light loss to the extremities, particularly the head and tail of the spine. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
