The very scarce first edition of this work.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-four plates, twelve of which are in colour. Collated, complete.
An account of the joyous pageant held in Old Ranelagh Gardens, Royal Hospital, Chelsea, between June 25th and July 1st, 1908.
It was a festive celebration of Chelsea’s history from its ancient origins to the present day, an event in which local residents dressed up as historical figures, and where plays and music were performed.
Edited by G. A. Lee, R. Blunt and J. H. Quinn, and with selections of music from Ernest Bucalossi.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. Externally, age toned. Significant losses of paper to back strip, with chipping to wrap perimeters. Wraps tenderly held. Internally, generally firmly bound. Light spotting to title page, with pages generally clean and bright, but with the odd instance of spotting or light handling marks.
