Description

Leather Binding, Prize Binding

The One Hundred and Twelfth Thousand of this work in a full calf prize binding, with gilt detailing to the spine and the gilt crest of The Royal Drawing Society, 1902, to the front board.

Prize bookplate to the front paste down from The Royal Drawing Society, dated 1909.

Sesame and Lilies is a collection of three essays, concerned with education and ideal conduct.

John Ruskin was an art critic in Victorian England, being an influential figure in the art world, especially with the Pre-Raphaelites. He was also greatly admired by Leo Tolstoy, Marcel Proust, and William Morris.

Condition

In a full calf prize binding. Externally, generally smart. A little faded to the perimeters and spine. Small marks to the front board. Front hinge is starting but remains firmly held by cords. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
