A very scarce work. A first edition, one of only fifty copies produced.
A posthumously published memoir from Mrs. John Carver (Anne Rickards), in which she covers the various homes she lived in over the course of her life, between September 1817 and October 1883.
She includes a description of the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in September 1830, when she was a teenager, and discusses her various homes in the Liverpool, Salford, and Cheshire regions.
With later ink inscriptions and notations to the first thirty pages, possibly from a relation of the author. Inscription of G R Hughes to front pastedown.
Condition
In a half calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Light rubbing to joints, with light handling marks to front board. Inscription to front pastedown. Spotting to pastedowns and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright. Neat restoration to head of leave B, not affecting text, with ink annotations and notations to the first thirty pages.
