In the publisher's original first edition cloth, notable for the brilliant woodcut illustration to the front board of Churchill with a rhino which he hunted in November 1907.
Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece and sixty monochrome photographic plates and three maps. Collated, lacking plate facing pp. 71.
Winston Churchill's first hand account of his travels around British controlled East Africa in the autumn of 1907. The volume provides a travelogue on Britain's possessions in East Africa, written while he was serving as Undersecretary of State for the Colonies. This works is notable for being the only one of his many publications to contain photographs ostensibly taken by the author.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with a slight lean, marks to the spine and rear board, bumping and minimal wear to the extremities, and very slight fading to the spine. Offsetting to the endpapers. Internally one plate lacking, otherwise firmly bound with a closed tear to pp.13, pages generally bright with light spotting, heavier to the front and rear.
