A first edition copy.

James Boswell was a Scottish biographer, diarist and lawyer who is best known for his biography of his friend Samuel Johnson. This volume contains the letters from Boswell to Rev W. J. Temple. William Johnson Temple was an English cleric and essayist who is best remembered as a correspondent of James Boswell. 

With an introduction by Thomas Seccombe. 

The frontispiece is detached but present. 
Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, the frontispiece is detached but otherwise firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
