A New York socialite, art collector, patron and author of children's books, Julia Ellsworth Ford's purpose was to show a truer story than is apparent in the biblical version. Contains a dedication to friends at the beginning of the book, and analytical notes on the various versions of the poem at the end.

In the publisher's original cloth boards. Externally smart. Fading to the spine and board extremities. Small handling marks. End papers are bright and clean, with the rare odd spot to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the small spot of dirt to extremities. Occasional odd spot to back of plates.
