Illustrated with a monochrome photographic frontispiece, and one hundred and twenty-three photographic plates from the author, collated and complete.
As well as narrating the discovery of birds such as the Little Bittern and the Black-Necked Grebe, Lodge also recounts the kindness and hospitality of strangers in this ornithological travelogue. In 1895, the ornithologist, photographer, and painter received the first medal ever presented for nature photography by the Royal Photographic Society.

Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally excellent with very minimal edge wear. Internally firmly bound with only slight strain to the frontispiece, with lightly age toned pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
