A charming illustrated collection of fables credited to Aesop, a Greek storyteller and fabulist whose tales were characterised by the anthropomorphic animal characters.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial covers with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with a damp stain and a bump to the centre of the rear board. Owner's inscription to the front free endpaper, with tidemarks to the rear endpapers. The wrap has sunning to the spine and cover, the odd mark, small closed tears to the extremities, and a tidemark to the rear and verso. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages and tidemarks to the rear few pages.
