London Churches Ancient & Modern, Second Series: Classical & Modern
With a frontispiece and 32 plates. Collated, complete.

Both dated from the British Library. Date inscription to title pages that we disagree with. 

A extensive historical study into the construction and development of London's historical churches, with notes on architectural features, decorations of different periods, and building materials. 

The first series covers the Norman and Early English periods, the Decorated and Perpendicular periods, the Riverside and Suburban Mediaeval churches, the Early Renaissance period and the churches of Sir Christopher Wren.

The second series covers the Era of Classicism and the Gothic Revival Period.

Condition

In publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart. Bumping to extremities, most significant to the first series, with cloth starting to crack at joint. Slight rubbing at joints, with the odd mark to the rear board of the first series. Front hinge strained in the first series. Light spotting and age toning with ink stamp to end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and bright. Ink stamp to half title pages and title pages with small ink inscription of date to title pages. Light spotting to fore edges.
