    First Edition, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

    With one folding frontispiece and eighteen plates to volume I, frontispiece and eight plates to volume II, frontispiece and eleven plates to volume IV, frontispiece and eleven plates to volume V, frontispiece and eleven plates to volume VI. 

    Collated, complete.

    The volumes cover agriculture, engineering, anthropology, botany, zoology, geology and astronomy. 

    In uniform Talwin Morris Art Deco bindings. A beautifully produced set, in a binding designed by the prolific book designer. Talwin Morris was influential in Victorian book design with his Art Nouveau approach using line, curve, and decoration to entice the reader. It is believed he was influenced by the bindings of Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

    Condition

    In full Talwin Morris cloth bindings. Externally, excellent. A few light marks to the front board of volume VI. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. With instances of scattered spotting, heavier to the first and last few pages.
