Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-two plates, by Gordon Browne and Lewis Baumer.

Collated, complete.

Nesbit is beloved for her classic children's novels, of which she wrote around forty during her life. She often wrote in a contemporary fantasy setting, which inspired many authors, such as Diana Wynne Jones, J. K. Rowling, and C. S. Lewis.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, Externally, a little worn with a large crack and some loss of cloth to the rear joint. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a very small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Spine is discoloured. Some minor marks to the boards and spine. Mark to the rear joint. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only the occasional spot and handling mark. Small chip to the head of page 179/180.
