In the original cloth binding. 

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, thirty-two double-sided monochrome plates and two folding maps to the rear. Collated, complete. 

A detailed narrative of this polar expedition carried out by American explorer and officer Robert Peary, which was supported by fundraising through the Peary Arctic Club. Via the SS Roosevelt, he navigated through the ice between Greenland and Ellesmere Island, establishing an American hemisphere "farthest north by ship". 


Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, with a couple splits to the rear joint cloth. Fading to the spine and wear to the head and tail. Marks to the cloth. Internally, folding maps are detached but present, otherwise remainder of the volume is firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and light spotting to the first and last few leaves.
