An illustrated work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with pictorial gilt to the front board. Sophie Rostopchine, Countess of Ségur (1799-1874), was a French writer, best known for her novel Les Malheurs de Sophie (Sophie's misfortunes), intended for children. This work, which first appeared under the title Le Chemineau, concerns a rich family and the hero named Diloy the Tramp.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally fairly smart, with a couple of small stains to the front board and some fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned but clean.
