A historical account exploring the rich history of the University of Cambridge, from its origins to its development as a significant institution of learning. With particular interest in the evolution of the collegiate system and the impact that various figures and events had on its growth. Written by M. A. R. Tuker, an English author best known for his city guides. Illustrated by William Matthison, an English watercolourist, many of whose pictures were made into chocolate-box-style postcards. Four leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities and fading to the spine. Bumping to the tip of the front board resulting in minor fraying. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and age toning to the endpapers. Light spotting to the fore-edge with the previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
