Includes the following works:
'Familiar Studies of Men and Books' (1907) - Containing nine essays, seven of which previously appeared in the Cornhill Magazine, providing studies into figures and literary topics such as Victor Hugo's romances, Robert Burns, Samuel Pepys and more.
'Virginibus Puerisque and Other Stories' (1908) - The first collection of Stevenson's essays, including essays previously published in the Cornhill Magazine. Including 'Crabbed Age and Youth', 'On Falling in Love' and 'English Admirals', among others.
'Poems' (1912) - Including Underwoods, ballads and songs of travel.
Condition
Uniformly bound in the publisher's full limp morocco. Externally, 'Poems' and 'Familiar Studies' are very smart, with slight rubbing to the extremities (heavier to 'Familiar Studies' and minor fading to the spine. 'Virginibus' is more heavily worn to the leather, with areas of damage most notable to the front corner and rear board. Internally, firmly bound. With a large piece of the front free endpaper chipped to 'Virginibus', as well as worming affecting pages 23-34. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spots to the endpapers of 'Virginibus' and a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper of 'Familiar Studies'.
