The collected works of Henrik Johan Ibsen, a Norwegian playwright and theatre director. As one of the founders of modernism in theatre, Ibsen is often referred to as "the father of realism" and the most influential playwright of the nineteenth century. Translated and introduced by William Archer, a Scottish author, theatre critic, and English spelling reformer, who was an early advocate of the plays of Henrik Ibsen, and a friend and advocate of George Bernard Shaw. Volume I, 1908, contains: Lady Inger of Ostrat, The Feast at Solhoug, and Love's Comedy. Volume II, 1906, contains: The Vikings at Helgeland and The Pretenders. Volume V, 1907, contains: Emperor and Galilean: A World-Historic Drama. Volume VI, 1906, contains: The League of Youth and Pillars of Society. Volume VII, 1906, contains: The Doll's House and Ghosts. Volume VIII, 1907, contains: An Enemy of the People and The Wild Duck. Volume IX, 1907, contains: Rosmersholm and The Lady from the Sea. Volume XI, 1907, contains: Little Eyolf, John Gabriel Borkman, and When We Dead Awaken.
Condition
In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spines with the odd small mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the endpapers.
