Charles Kingsley (1819–1875) was an English clergyman, professor, and novelist, best known for The Water-Babies and his historical works. He was a prominent Christian Socialist and served as chaplain to Queen Victoria.
Condition
Bound in a full green calf binding with gilt. Externally, very smart. Slight fading to extremities and spine. One or two slight handling marks to boards. Previous owner's contemporary inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to first and last few leaves.
