Complete in two volumes.
'The Decameron' is a collection of novellas by the Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio, spilt into one-hundred tales. They're told from the point of view of ten young men and women, hiding in a villa outside Florence, trying to escape the Black Death.
Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and seven plates.
Volume II is illustrated with four plates.
Collated, complete.
Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer and poet who was an important figure during the Renaissance.
Illustrated by the French artist Louis Chalon. Many of his illustrations were used in periodicals, including 'La Vie Parisienne', 'L'Illustration', and 'Figaro Illustre'.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, cloth is faded. Minor shelf wear to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities, with loss to the head of the spines. Light marks and some rubbing to the cloth. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and spotted.
