This work was written and illustrated by Dion Clayton Calthrop and provides a visual guide to the history of English fashion, describing the clothing from the earliest periods in England and the middle ages up to the Tudor, Stuart and Georgian times. The work also discusses historical figures and their clothing and fashion trends.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally excellent with bumping and very light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Offsetting to the endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound with the odd plate starting to 'Middle Ages' and 4 plates disbound but present over the four volumes. Pages generally bright with spotting throughout and slight loss, marks and tidemarks to the plates between pp. 76-77.
