Early edition, September 1906. Originally printed early the same month. Illustrated with a frontispiece and fifteen plates. Collated complete. 'Benita' tells the romantic adventure of Benita, a clairvoyant, as she assists in the hunt for long lost Portuguese treasure in the Transvaal. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, a famous English writer of adventure fiction, mainly known for the use of exotic settings and as a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Illustrated by Gordon Frederick Browne, an English artist and a prolific illustrator. With eight pages of 'New Fiction' advertisements followed by eight leaves of publishers catalogue to the rear.
Condition
In the original full red cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Light loss to the head of the spine with small splits in the cloth to the head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Minor age toning to the endpapers.
