First edition, second impression. Illustrated with seventy-nine plates, sixteen of which are in colour or are accented with colour. Collated complete. A collection of essays on artillery and explosives, with titles including: On the Tension of Fired Gunpowder, Heat-Action of Explosives, Internal Ballistics, Researches on Explosives, and Some Modern Explosives, amongst others. Written by Sir Andrew Noble, a Scottish physicist noted for his work on ballistics and gunnery.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the cloth with a 1" split to the cloth at the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
