A Sportsman's Sketches Vol. II (1906) is a limited edition of two hundred and fifty. Virgin Soil Vol. I (1906) is a first edition, fourth impression.
Translated from the original Russian by Constance Garnett, with an introduction in Vol. I by Edward Garnett.
Contains a prior owner's bookplate to Vol. II front paste down.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, smart with shelf wear to joints and extremities and the odd mark to boards. Internally, mostly firmly bound. Front and rear hinges to Vol. I strained and front hinge to Vol. II. Pages clean with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Contains a prior owner's bookplate to Vol. II front paste down. Fore edge roughly cut.
