Varying from the usual adventure-romance novels of the author. This set includes H. Rider Haggard's non-fiction rural surveys of Denmark and England, exploring the ins and outs of the regions' agriculture, churches, schools, farms and trades. 

The new edition of 'Rural England' is particularly noted for its updated preface, in which Haggard expresses expresses his disappointment in the lack of change and improvement to the state of agriculture in England, to which the work was intended to aid.

'Rural England' Volume I is illustrated with thirty-two monochrome plates.
'Rural England' Volume II is illustrated with twenty-four monochrome plates.
'Rural Denmark' is illustrated with a frontispiece and fifteen monochrome plates. 

Collated, complete. 

Condition

In the original cloth bindings. Externally, smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities, most notably to the spines' heads and tails'. Damp stain to the front board of 'England' Vol II and white marks to the boards of Vol I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and a few occasional spots. Small ink inscription to the front free endpaper of 'England' Vol I.
