Each volume is illustrated with fifteen colour plates and many in-text and full-page monochrome examples of furniture pieces throughout. Collated, complete.
Percy Macquoid was a British connoisseur of the field and the author of numerous articles for Country Life. This work is considered the first major survey of the subject, and are largely reprinted and of use today. His ‘Age of’ terms have become the standard terms for referring to these different periods and styles.
Condition
In the original cloth bindings. Externally, cloth is faded (heaviest to 'Oak') with spots and marks across the set. Heaviest instances of marking to the boards of 'Walnut'. Damp stains to 'Oak'. Rubbing and bumping to the extremities, heaviest to the spines. Front hinges are tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the only exception being offsetting and spotting to the endpapers and the occasional light spotting to the colour plates.
