A complete three volume set of Original Plays by William S. Gilbert.
William S. Gilbert was an English dramatist, poet and illustrator, best known for his collaboration with Arthur Sullivan which produced fourteen comic operas.
All three volumes are new impression copies.
The first series (1908) includes The Wicked World, Pygmalion and Galatea Charity, The Palace of Truth, The Princess, Trial by Jury and Iolanthe.
The second series (1907) contains Broken Hearts, Engaged, Sweethearts, Dan'l Druce, Blacksmith, Gretchen, Tom Cobb, The Sorcerer, H. M. S Pinafore and The Pirates of Penzance.
The third series 91906) contains Comedy and Tragedy, Foggerty's Fairy The Mountebanks, Patience and others.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. and some fading to the first series spine. A previous owner inscription to the half title page of all three volumes, dated 1908. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
