What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

A pleasing two-volume set of works from Lucy H. M. Soulsby.

Uniformly bound in half vellum, with cloth boards.

Containing the sixth impression of 'Stray Thoughts on Character' and a new impression of 'Stray Thoughts for Girls'.

Both works discuss societal expectations and Soulsby's own thoughts of womanhood and the education of the youth, with particular emphasis on religious teachings.

Lucy Soulsby was a British headmistress of Oxford High School for Girls, however was notably opposed to women's suffrage.

She supported the Women's National Anti-Suffrage League and thus garnered traditional views of womanhood that are reflected in these works.
